Quinn signs bill to help Ill. military

July 24, 2009 The governor signed the bill law during a taping of ABC7's Newsviews on Friday.

It offers $100 to current and former military members from Illinois who served since the war on terror began in 2001.

Quinn told ABC7 political reporter Charles Thomas if all 200,000 who are eligible apply, the payouts would cost the state $20 million. He called it gratitude to Illinoisans for defending democracy.
