A funeral service for an admitted gang member was being held inside that store-front church at 5301 West Madison on the West Side. Police say the gunman approached an "intended target" and opened fire, but he also shot at the crowd as he left the scene. Four men and two women were wounded.
"I was sitting by the door and I just heard a lot of gunshots and I just took off running and with the pushing just trying to get out of the way," said Marcia Bowman.
"I just don't understand how this all happened ...I just pray for the people who got shot," said James Simmons, witness.
All the victims are in listed in conditions ranging from serious to good.
