Chicago police are investigating a shooting involving an off-duty police officer on the city's Far Northwest Side. It happened Monday morning near the Croatian Cultural Center at 2845 W. Devon, near Mozart. The officer was working as a security guard at a party at the center when investigators say someone pointed a gun at him, and the officer opened fire.

A short time later, a person showed up at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. But police cannot confirm if the off-duty officer was the one who shot him, only that the off-duty officer fired shots.
