Fire damages Maywood auto repair shop, cars

A fire has caused nearly $1 million-worth of damage to an auto repair shop in west suburban Maywood, Ill.The blaze broke out just after 11 a.m. Sunday at J and E Auto Shop on St. Charles Road.

The fire damaged two buildings and a number of cars.

Authorities say the fire started when a fuel spill ignited. They say the fuel was spilled as someone was working on a car.

According to fire officials, three people were working inside the business when the fire began, but no one was hurt.

There was no word what caused the fuel to ignite.

Saturday, a fire damaged a building on Fifth Avenue in Maywood, which housed businesses and apartments.
