Despite the demise of the South Side parade, thousands of people across town were donning green for the eighth annual Northwest Side Irish Parade. Those viewing the parade along Northwest Highway were treated to much dryer conditions than Saturday's downtown parade.

The parade included floats, dancers, and at least one leprechaun on hand to help entertain the crowd.

After the parade, organizers held a tribute to Illinois soldiers wounded in service to the country.
