Are your kids making you fat?

Young children can bring a lot of joy to a family but they may also make parents less fit.

A new report finds newer mothers are heavier and eat more calories and fattier foods than childless women. Also, dads and moms in the Pediatrics Journal study were less active than their peers.

Quick processed foods can be easier to serve with a hectic schedule. Exercise may also take a back seat to a child's needs.

Researchers say this may perpetuate a cycle of unhealthy habits for the whole family. They suggest doctors take note and offer solutions including diet advice, parent-child exercise classes or just getting parents to take walks with their children.
