He is also seeing strep throat. He says, "We're still seeing some little groupings of strep in families or in schools from kids from the same class."
The doctor says that should end as people get outdoors more and more, but getting outside should also bring a major outbreak of allergy symptoms.
"We have a lot of over-the-counter antihistamines that are out there, and that's a good place to start," Dr. Francis says. He also suggests decongestants when necessary if you're able to take them.
The doctor is also seeing some overuse injuries, as people get out and do their first spring yard clean up. He says you should pace yourself and take breaks. An anti-inflammatory afterwards might also help.
Don't forget to do a safety survey outside. Dr. Francis says to ask yourself, "What are the things in my yard that could be potentially dangerous? What are my kids getting into or what do I get into? Making sure that the safety equipment that we rely on is actually in shape."
Dr. Francis says he is already seeing people complaining of sunburns after Sunday's record warmth.
