An international group of researchers has published a series of articles in the current issue of The Lancet medical journal. They say no country has a grip on this problem and tough action including taxing junk food is needed if the obesity crisis is going to be tackled.
Without some change it is predicted health systems will be swamped.
Researchers stress that the whole of society, from the individual to industry, has a role to play in reversing this trend.
