Eric Hays, 41, is charged with felony bribery. Prosecutors allege he offered to refuse to testify against a Sam Adam Junior client in exchange for $5,000.
Adam says he contacted Cook County prosecutors after Hays repeatedly called him.
"For 3 1/2 weeks he contacted my office. He contacted me and said very clearly, 'I will not trestify if you and your client can get me $5,000.' And my obligation is to my client. I will not allow my client to be extorted. I will not be extorted on behalf of my client," Adam told ABC7.
Hays, who claimed in court that he's a Canadian citizen, is being held on $100,000.
