During Friday's ABC7 News This Morning show, Brizard about his proposal, which so far, the teachers union has not agreed to. ABC7 also asked him about what teachers call the "elimination of pay raises."
"So we know there is some tensions right now in negotiations, but I'm hopeful because we are talking to each other, and as long as we keep that, we will get to where we need to get to," Brizard said. "Hoping to actually get a few schools to launch a longer school day this year, but we are pushing for system-wide changes next year."
Brizard also reminded parents and students about the importance of showing up and being on time On the first day of school and every school day.
