Officials: No new sod for Soldier Field

September 5, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The Bears organization has decided the field is in good shape after the Chicago Classic. Five members of the organization walked the field and determined there was not as much damage as expected.

Crews were supposed to re-sod soldier field Sunday in preparation for the Bears season opener Sunday. Bears officials have not commented on a reason.

The Chicago Park District spends more than $500,000 each year re-sodding Soldier Field.
