It happened at Butterfield Road between Mundelein and Vernon Hills. The train involved in the incident was eventually cancelled, and passengers were transferred to another train to continue their commute. Subsequent trains were running 30 minutes late.
Traffic in both directions on Butterfield Road between Armour Road and Rt. 60 was also rerouted during the investigation.
