Crews are working to get the playing field ready for Sunday's Bears game against the Green Bay Packers. Sunday, they tore out all of the old sod.
The field's manager says the need to re-sod was not weather-related.
"It's the same practice we do every year," said Soldier Field General Manager Tom LeFevour. "We probably re-sod two or three times during a Bears season. Nothing out of the ordinary ...we've had one regular season game. It's just the right time to do it, with some of the other activities we've had here, and we'll get ready for the Packers."
Only the playing field sod is being replaced, not the portions along the sidelines or behind the goal posts.
