It was part of a presentation that marked Gold Star Mother's Day, which is celebrated on the last Sunday in September. Seventy other Gold Star families attended the presentation in Chicago's Cultural Center.
Gold Star Mother's Day has been commemorated since President Franklin Roosevelt declared the first one in 1936, but the tradition goes all the way back to 1918 and the end of World War I.
