The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides grants to help families pay their energy bills.
Grants are based on the past 30 days' income to people who fall below certain income thresholds. For example, a family of four making less than approximately $2,800 a month would qualify.
Certain documents are needed to apply. More information is available from the Community and Economic Development Association, which administers the program in Cook County.
