The flames forced 11 people from a total of three homes in the 4900-block of West Dakin Street.
No one was hurt, but the home where the fire broke out is a total loss.
There was no word on a cause.
The city's Department of Human Services will assist nine adults and two children displaced by the blaze, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The Chicago Red Cross reported its team was on the scene as of about 2:30 a.m. to provide emergency assistance.
