July 17, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Firefighters fought a giant blaze at a Southwest Side apartment building that was in flames late Tuesday afternoon.

They searched the building later in the day.

The blaze started in the rear of the building in the 4100-block of West 21st Place, at one point engulfing the back porch and causing it to collapse.

Flames also spread to one building on the east and two on the west.

No injuries had been reported as of early Tuesday evening.

There was no word on what caused the fire.
