The American College of Emergency Physicians has released a checklist for parents to make sure their children stay healthy.
Most of the suggestions are simple. They include making sure your child's medical records are updated and available for the school along with parents' contact information.
This should include lists of any medications your child takes as well as allergies or special needs and whether the school has permission to administer certain drugs to your child.
It's also a good idea to talk with the school nurse and establish an action plan in the event of any allergic reactions.
