A jury awarded $8.5 million to the mother of a teenager who was shot and killed by Chicago police officers.

Aaron Harrison was killed in August of 2007.

Police say he was shot after he turned and pointed a gun at officers as he ran from them.

Harrison's mother filed a lawsuit that claimed according to witnesses, the teenager did not have a weapon.

A spokesperson says the city is disappointed with the decision and may file an appeal.
