Organizers of an annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Festival in Des Plaines last month got a $30,000 bill for police presence.

Festival organizers say that's nearly 10 times what past bills were. Police officials say they alerted festival organizers up front about the higher cost.

Our Lady of Guadalupe draws up to 100,000 people to the outdoor shrine. The festival marks what believers say was the 16th-century appearance of the Virgin Mary in Mexico.
