Prosecutors say Lake Station Mayor Keith Soderquist and his wife, Deborah took cash for gambling and other purposes from a campaign finance account and a city food pantry.
Last fall, federal agents searched Lake Station City Hall looking for evidence.
On Wednesday, the grand jury also indicted former city employee Miranda Brakley for allegedly stealing funds from the city. She's the mayor's stepdaughter.
