CHICAGO (WLS) -- General Motors is offering gift cards to car owners affected by the ignition switch recalls as incentive to get their cars fixed. The company says only about half of the 2.6 million defective ignition switches have been fixed.

GM is now giving owners $25 gift cards to a variety of stores if they take their cars in for repairs before Dec. 1.

The faulty ignition switches have been tied to at least 29 deaths.
