Man found dead in Beach Park ravine

BEACH PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was found dead in a ravine in north suburban Beach Park early Saturday.

Matthew Strait, 33, of Zion, was found dead in the 39100-block of North Green Bay Road at about 9:50 a.m., according to the Lake County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators said Strait was likely walking in or near the southbound lanes of traffic and struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene.

The injuries on Strait's body were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, but the Lake County Coroner has yet to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The autopsy is scheduled to take place Sunday.
