SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- Gov. Bruce Rauner granted seven and denied 144 clemency petitions, the governor's office announced Friday.
Rauner inherited, dating back more than six years.
The 151 clemency petitions are part of nearly 3,000 petitions Rauner inherited from previous administrations, dating back to January 2008. Each of those granted clemency recently underwent a criminal background check through the Illinois State Police's Law Enforcement Agencies Data System.
These are the second set of petitions the governor has reviewed since taking office and will continue to review clemency petitions on a regular basis.
