WASHINGTON (WLS) -- Illinois Governor-elect Bruce Rauner met with President Obama and some top members of his administration at the White House. Other incoming governors from around the country took part.

Rauner called it a terrific day after talking about how to improve the state's economy and its infrastructure. Rauner says it's going to take cooperation between Republicans and Democrats to solve problems facing states and the country.

"Our states are facing significant challenges, we won't solve them unless we do it in a bipartisan way," Rauner said.

While in Washington, Rauner also talked with Illinois members in Congress about working across party lines.
