CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are warning older people living in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood about burglars trying to trick people into letting them into their homes.

Police say two such burglaries have occurred in the past two weeks. According to police, suspects pose as utility workers, city workers, cable TV technicians or contractors, and tell the homeowner they are checking for a problem.

Once they are let in, one suspect distracts the homeowner while the other takes possessions, including money and jewelry.

Police say you should always call the company or agency to ensure whoever is at your door is actually who they say they are.
