'Chagall is for Children' open in Winnetka

WINNETKA, Ill. (WLS) -- Marc Chagall is considered one of the greatest artists of all time. His work appealed to almost everyone, including children.

"Chagall is for Children" opened at the Winnetka Community House as a joint project with the Kohl's Children Museum. The objective is simple: don't just show kids art; encourage them to be part of it.

"Everybody is always told to not touch the artwork. For this exhibit it lets the kids come in to feel and explore through audio and every other sensory that they have to enjoy and be part of it," Alana Flatley, Winnetka Community House, said.

All 14 stations are at kids-eye-high level. These pre-schoolers and kindergartners might not know who Marc Chagall was, but that really doesn't matter because this is all about the artist in all of us. No matter what the age.

"It's really fun being an artist and being my own artist. And it's really what I want to be when I grow up," Maddie, 5 years old, said.

Chagall was born in 1887 in Russia. He died in France in 1985.

"I think they're good," Reed, 5 years old, said. "Well, that they have different colors and other things."

Chagall touched on color and love. He died at the age of 98 and never stopped working.
