On snowy day, Auto Show attendees check out 4-wheel drive vehicles

CHICAGO (WLS) -- On the second day of the Chicago Auto Show, snow fell outside while hundreds of people inside the McCormick Place checked out the vehicles - include some that could handle a Chicago snowfall.

First up, the Nissan Winter Warrior. Instead of tires, it has heavy duty track systems, tough enough to handle any kind of extreme winter weather.

"The thing that I really like about this you can travel up the hills and you can go down on the slopes in the snow there is no place you can't drive this vehicle," said attendee Lenny Rybczyk.

Probably not ideal on city streets and highways though. But a more practical sports-utility vehicle is Nissan's Armada, which was just unveiled at the auto show, along with other all-wheel drive vehicles.

The trend from just years ago to pass on SUVs because of high gas prices, is no more.

"People are looking at bigger vehicles again larger crossovers perhaps even larger sedans or minivans when a few years ago they were looking at the hybrids and fuel efficient vehicles," said attendee Mark Bilek.

Lesley Guthrie's family love their Suburu, especially for the safety features and handling.

"It handles the family and it handle the weather and it can be parked in the city," Guthrie said.

Family friendly vehicles are in high demand, and there is a lot to choose from. Many of them don't lack in performance, either,

"It's all about having a good feeling of control on the road," David Sloan said.
