Chicago youth jobs program kicks off Monday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Thousands of Chicago youth start summer jobs on Monday, the first day of One Summer Chicago 2015.

The goal of the program is to keep young people safe during the summer while providing valuable job training and work experience.

Youth aged 14 to 24 from neighborhoods across Chicago will work in areas such as urban agriculture, bike repair and outdoor forestry. Some youth may even at the Brookfield Zoo.

The jobs will last for six months.

The 24,000 jobs offered this summer are the most in the program's history.
