CHICAGO (WLS) -- Many people have heard how dangerous the Zika virus can be to unborn babies. But there's another disease that can pose an even bigger risk to newborns.

It's called the CMV virus, or Cytomegalovirus, which is relatively unknown to expectant mothers.

Dr. Daniel Johnson, of the University of Chicago, joined ABC7 News at 11 a.m. to talk about what the disease is, why it is so concerning and what pregnant woman should do differently.

Erica and Joe Steadman's 3-year-old daughter, Evelyn, has the CMV virus. They explained what life has been like for Evelyn and how they hope to raise awareness about the disease.
