CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Cook County Jail inmate was charged in a disgusting attack on a corrections officer.

Vermon Patterson, 26, allegedly threw his own feces at the officer Tuesday afternoon, hitting him in the head and face.

Other guards said the maximum security inmate refused to follow their orders and they were forced to use pepper spray on him.

Patterson has been in jail since December 2015 on home invasion charges.

He was charged Wednesday with two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer. His bond was set at $100,000.
