PALOS HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- A south suburban man was hiking in Nepal when Saturday's 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit.

Corey Ascolani, of Palos Hills, was still in Nepal Thursday, with other American survivors. He was hiking in the Himalayas with another man when they decided to stop for coffee.

Ascolani became trapped on the mountain for several days, along with 26 other people.

Luckily, one of them had a satellite phone, which led rescuers to their location.
