A new coyote alert in Wake County has been issued after another dog was killed

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -- A Raleigh man said he was walking his dog in the woods in northern Wake County on Friday when a coyote attacked his beloved pet.

Richard Cashman said he was walking behind his house near Highway 98 and Creedmoor Road when his miniature Dachshund was suddenly attacked.

Moments later, Cashman saw the coyote carrying the dog away in its mouth.

"Within three seconds it took her out," Cashman explained. "I had no chance to even get there to help. It wasn't a fight. It's found food in the area. It's kind of losing its fear of people and so you can expect it to be back."

Two months earlier, Cashman said another one of his dogs was killed. Cashman's third Dachshund was attacked but managed to survive.

Another neighbor in the area reported losing a dog and two cats recently.
