CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are working on a new effort to make sure all officers, old and new, are up to speed with the department's training program.
The CPD will be able to train more officers through a new partnership with City Colleges of Chicago and DeVry University.
The department will use classrooms on those campuses to work with current officers, so the police academy can have space to focus on training new officers.
This is the temporary plan until a new CPD training facility opens in 2018.
