Free rides on CTA Yellow Line
CTA Yellow Line trains are back in service Friday. To celebrate, commuters can ride for free for a whole week.

SKOKIE, Ill. (WLS) -- CTA Yellow Line trains are back in service Friday and the agency is offering commuters free rides for a week.

Those free rides run from Friday, October 30, to Friday, November 6, 2015, from the CTA Yellow Line's Dempster-Skokie and Oakton-Skokie stations. Free parking will be available at the CTA's Park and Ride facility at the Dempster-Skokie station through the end of 2015.

Service on the Yellow Line, or Skokie Swift, had been suspended for five months following an embankment collapse during construction on Metropolitan Water Reclamation District property. Commuters are glad to get it back.

"I like this much better than the bus," Jim Gallagher said. "It's much more efficient."
