VERNON HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the completion of the salmon-colored home in what is now northeastern part of Vernon Hills, but no fanfare or centennial celebration is scheduled as the owner, Loyola University Chicago, concentrates on a plan to generate millions for needed reinvestment. It is a landmark that has been closed to the public for a few years, but the village hopes will again be open for public access. Plans under review by the village are characterized by Pulte executives as being respectful and sensitive to the character of what is best known as the Cuneo Mansion and Gardens.
