Chicago police officer charged with DUI on I-57
Chicago Police Officer Danny Sevilla is charged with driving under the influence and driving the wrong way on Interstate 57 early Friday morning.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- In an ABC7 Eyewitness News exclusive, one of the men who helped stop a Chicago police officer who was allegedly drunk and driving the wrong way on I-57 shares his story.

It happened early Friday morning at 111th Street. Jujuan Williams said he had to veer out of the way to avoid the oncoming SUV.

ABC7 obtained exclusive video of Officer Danny Sevilla after his arrest. Sevilla has been charged with driving under the influence.

"It was disturbing to say the least," Williams said. "I just didn't think that someone of his stature would do something like that."

Williams recorded cell phone video of Sevilla taking a sobriety test. He thinks he and the other driver saved lives with their actions.

Illinois State Police say Sevilla, 33, drove his black Mitsubishi Outlander the wrong way down a long ramp onto I-57 near 111th around 5:45 a.m. Friday.

State police said no one was injured and Sevilla was alone.

Sevilla was seen leaving the Blue Island Police Station, where he was held by Illinois State Police. Sevilla hid in the backseat as he was taken out in an unmarked patrol car driven by internal affairs.

The Chicago Police Department says Sevilla has been relieved of his police powers and placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
