CHICAGO (WLS) -- The canine flu that sickened over 150 Chicago area dogs in 2015 is making a comeback.

An uptick in the virus is likely due to the warmer weather and people having their dogs interact with other canines. A veterinarian says the best way to avoid it is to minimize contact with unfamiliar dogs, like at dog parks.

The canine flu is highly contagious. Vaccinating your dog can also help to ward off the virus.
