Newsviews: Domestic violence
Women across the country and right here in Chicago are in violent relationships.
WLS-WLS

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Video showing NFL player Ray Rice punching his then-fiance, knocking her unconscious, has sparked an outcry. He was dropped by his team, the Baltimore Ravens, and the NFL suspended him indefinitely. Former FBI Director Robert Mueller will investigate how the NFL handled the matter.

But this is not an isolated incident. Other women across the country and right here in Chicago are in violent relationships. Their situations don't get national attention.

Joining us this week is Kathleen Doherty, executive director of the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network and Cory Ryan, executive director of Connections for Abused Women and their Children. They will discuss domestic violence, why some women find it so difficult to walk away and the help available to those who do.
