CHICAGO (WLS) -- The DuSable Museum of African American History was granted a Smithsonian affiliation, which puts the South Side institution on the world stage for artists and curators.
The designation allows DuSable to swap artifacts among 200 other Smithsonian museums.
Leslie Guy, chief curator at the DuSable, said their museum will be an extension of the Smithsonian, which will allow them to borrow extensively and present the exhibitions and programs that the Smithsonian puts together.
The DuSable is the second museum in Chicago to earn that status. The other is the Adler Planetarium.
