ABC7's Cheryl Burton honored at South Shore International College Prep

CHICAGO (WLS) -- ABC7's Cheryl Burton received a special honor Thursday.

Burton visited South Shore International College Preparatory High School, where students celebrated her perfect attendance record from when she was at the school.

She spoke with students about the importance of education, college choices, the future of journalism, overcoming adversity and dream building.

"I met some really phenomenal young people, leaders of the future...I was so inspired and I feel so hopeful," Burton said.

Burton received a South Shore International College Prep t-shirt, with her name and the number 7 on the back.
