CHICAGO (WLS) -- For the sixth year in a row, every senior at Urban Prep's Englewood West and Bronzeville campuses has been accepted at four-year colleges and universities.
At an assembly on Thursday, a member of the class killed in March while walking home was honored.
Deonte Hoard's mom was given the red and gold striped tie he would have received for being college-bound.
"It's sad that he's not here, but it's a joy just to see 100 percent young men picking up the ball and going off to college," said Ebonie Martin, Hoard's mother.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel was on hand for the assembly. He says the young men of Urban Prep are continually raising the standard of academic excellence.
