ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- The fate of a controversial mural will be discussed at a final public meeting Monday night in Elgin.

The meeting is the last chance for the community to weigh in on whether a mural that critics call racist should remain on display.

The piece by artist David Powers was moved inside the Hemmens Center in Elgin after it was revealed the mural depicts the bottom half of a photograph of a 1930's lynching in Indiana.

The artist said it was intended to start a historical dialogue.
