CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died after being shot 20 times on the city's South Side early Friday morning, Chicago police said.
Police said officers responded to a call about shots fired in the Englewood neighborhood's 200-block of West 72nd Street just after 2:30 a.m.
On the scene, officers found an unresponsive man on the ground, police said. He had suffered 20 gunshot wounds to his body.
Police said the victim was transported in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
No one is in custody and Area One detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
