CHICAGO (WLS) -- Tuba Christmas is a Chicago holiday tradition that started at New York's Rockefeller Center back in 1974.

It's still going strong at Chicago's Palmer House.

An Indiana University music professor created tuba Christmas to honor his mentor William Bell and composer Alec Wilder.
