Suburban trampoline parks offer modifications for kids with autism

NAPERVILLE and NILES, Ill. (WLS) -- Children and families got the chance to jump around on Tuesday for a good cause at the kickoff party for Jump Sky High for Autism Speaks October.

Families with children who have special needs are getting the chance to enjoy the trampoline park with a few modifications. It will happen every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. year-round at Sky High locations in Niles and Naperville. Music will be turned off and lights dimmed for the comfort of the guests.

"What we're trying to do is build environments for families that are welcoming and accepting of neuro diversity," Keith McCormick, executive director of Autism Speaks Chicago.

The founder of Sky High has a son with Asperger's.

Throughout October, jumpers can purchase a pair of autism awareness socks with 100 percent of the proceeds going back to the local chapter of Autism Speaks.
