Filipino fashion in honor of Philippine Independence Day

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Philippine Independence Day is on June 12, and Philippine-Americans here in Chicago will be joining in the celebration. In honor of that, we looked at the Philippines' rich history through fashion.

Elsie Sy-Niebar, president of the Chicago Philippine Press Club came into our ABC 7 Eyewitness News studio along with fashion designer Mar Lapena and several models to showcase traditional Filipino fashion. The models included Yoly Zoleta, Mrs. Philippines PIWC 2014, as well as Ben Zoleta, Maryknoll Creisse Rambac, Julia Jouvarel and Bryan Zoleta.
