WILMINGTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A flood advisory has been issued for some areas along the Kankakee River in Will County, officials said.
Will County Emergency Management officials said although there has not been any low-land flooding yet, flooding could possibly be caused by ice jams forming at the bends of the river. In Wilmington, Ill., officials say the river gauge now reads 5 feet; flooding that would impact homes in the area would have to reach above 6 and a half feet.
Officials said although this has been an average year for icing, the advisory comes as a warning that a flood stage could be forming.
