HARVEY, Ill. (WLS) -- Illinois Comptroller Leslie Munger said an audit uncovered what she calls "financial irregularities" within the Harvey Park District. On Monday, Munger said she's working with the Cook County state's attorney's office to investigate the allegations.

"During a review of the Harvey Park District's annual audit report, my staff found evidence of fraud and losses to the park district. That evidence was turned over today to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, and we are prepared to assist its investigation in any way possible," Munger said in a written statement.

Munger said the alleged fraud included possible misuse of a park district credit card, missing cash deposits from park rental fees, an inability to substantiate more than $2 million in receivables and payables, and absence of payroll records.

ABC7 was unable to reach the park district for a comment.
