Woman found dead after Back of the Yards garage fire

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was found dead in a burning garage in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood late Monday.

Police and fire crews were called to a home in the 4800-block of South Bishop Street near Lamb Park at about 11:25 p.m. They were told the cars inside the garage were on fire.

Neighbors said they saw a woman run into the garage and that she didn't come out.

Investigators said flames were too intense to attempt a rescue. When the crews put out the fire, they found the woman dead inside.

The woman has been identified to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as 57-year-old Maria Saucedo.
